Divine Knockout
The Divine Knockout team was looking for a way to drive sales and promote their new game. Therefore, it was crucial for this project to be approached with careful consideration and understanding. Divine Knockout is the world’s only 3rd person platform fighter game so with that in mind, it became apparent the characters and gameplay are important to emphasize.

My role
I was the lead UI and UX designer on this project so I was responsible for creating a user journey. I thought through the flow from when the user initially turns on their Xbox console to entering a sweepstakes to the actual purchase of the game. When I was creating options, I would listen to the client’s goals and cater my journey to their needs. This client was driving sales and brand awareness and really wanted to emphasize the characters.
Once the user journey was established, I would then move on to the visual design of each landing page. I would take the visual elements of the brand and establish a visual and content hierarchy.
The fun part of this project was that I had a lot of creative freedom to create my own assets and lend them to elements that would surprise and delight the user! The animations were so fun to create and I had a great time with the character artwork.

It’s all in the details.
Creating UI elements is one of my favorite things to do as a designer. Pulling inspiration from the logo, the overall brand look and feel, and adding my own assets is what drives me to add polish and enable a brand to come alive.
Key Learnings
Editing videos in Adobe Audition. The audio for the video files was really loud and would deter a user from actually watching them so I learned how to modify the volume in Adobe Audition and it was so fun to learn something new.
Great assets from a client can make a huge difference. The client was great and enabled me to be very creative with their artwork. The assets were all high-resolution and easy to work with.
Mentoring a technical account manager can have some challenges. The technical account manager I worked with on this project was still very new. I had the opportunity to help guide the process and show them the ropes for future projects, but with that came a lot of extra time getting them up to speed.
